Caspar's Wild One
Maryam asked me a week before the party about styling her son’s first birthday. After talking to her, I knew I had to squeeze her into our schedule. She was so nice and easygoing, and I just really wanted to do something special for her son, Caspar. How could I say no?
She told me that Caspar loved animals and since we were short on time, we jointly decided on a modern safari theme that we could base off from things in our inventory. The best thing about hiring an event stylist x party planner is that clients get access to a rich decor inventory that they otherwise wouldn't be able to have.
We had a last minute venue change - just to spice things up - but the new venue (Montgomery Room at The Avenue’s clubhouse) looked like it was built for the theme. I was so in love with the details of the room. It made our job even easier.
Our cake table was simple. We had a gold and white balloon garland with tropical leaf inserts. We had lush green plants to plank this beautifully made cake by Cuppacake, and we threw in a couple of mini balloon garlands for the sides of the table accompanied with a simple gold birthday banner. I added our little teepee with cascading vines and used some of the venue’s cushions as accents. To top everything off, Maryam brought in some decor from home to accessorize her food spread; she did a fantastic job translating the theme. Everything looked perfectly coordinated - from the venue to the tables.
Caspar’s party had the energy of a small, tight-knit group of friends and their families. I love how everyone was just so warm and comfortable in front of the camera. It really does make all the difference when guests interact with the photographer with ease. I thoroughly enjoyed styling and shooting this party.
